Picking a flower from the Cretaceous

a project exploring the non-linearity of time and history
2024
There is a tension between time and history, and a purely linear view of time tends to reflect a patriarchal ideology that sees time as linear in the past, present and future, that time can be divided into primitive time and civilised time, that we are on an inescapable train to a better future, and that the history of mankind has a great and noble purpose.
The materials I use include limestone from Berlin and
and the remains of Ice age mammoth fragmets
. In addition, copper was the first metal used in human history and I fire enamels on copper at 800 degrees to send a message from the present to the distant past. Through my work I hope to challenge the rigid and linear view of the world.
