Kill That Rat
2023
This work consists of a relief of a rat on a porcelain plate and a video about searching for rats.
The video uses documentary footage from China's national rat extermination campaign during the Cultural Revolution in the 1950s, which is combined with footage from my personal everyday life in 2023 to create a new narrative.
The theme I wanted to explore was the idea between cleanliness and dirt andthe ideological discourses behind it.
这件作品由白色瓷板上的老鼠浮雕和一段关于寻找老鼠的视频组成。
视频使用了 20 世纪 50 年代文革期间中国全国灭鼠运动的纪录片素材，并将其与我个人在 2023 年的日常生活素材相结合，创造出一种新的叙事方式。
